England manager Roy Hodgson will name his final squad for Euro 2016 on Tuesday, so Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge’s return from injury is a timely one.
Sturridge missed the 2-1 victory against Australia, but it was only a minor injury. To his credit, since Jurgen Klopp’s fitness program in the New Year, Sturridge has been fit for the Reds for the longest period in his career at Anfield.
The big question mark will be on Sturridge’s ability to get through the Euros, as well as the inexperience of Marcus Rashford.
Hodgson has decided to avoid the press on Monday ahead of his final selection on Tuesday, but cancelled the conference. Rashford impressed against Australia so it will be difficult for the manager to ignore an up and coming talent.
Other questionable players who will be hoping to make the final cut will be Danny Drinkwater, Andros Townsend, Ross Barkley and Ryan Bertrand.
