Following the draws for the group stage of the 2016 CAF Champions League which has seen them drawn against Zamalek, Entente Setif and Mamelodi Sundowns in group B, Enyimba coach Paul Aigbogun says the rest of the group should be scared of his team.
The People’s Elephants have been drawn in a potentially tough group but Aigbogun says he is certain it is the other teams that would be wary of his team, and not the other way round.
“I am sure the other teams would be worried about Enyimba, not just us being worried about them,” he told fcnaija.com.
Zamalek and Entente Setif have won the Champions League seven times between them, while Sundowns are current champions of South Africa and while Aigbogun acknowledges they must be respected, he says Enyimba will not be scared.
“We have to respect these teams in our group,” he said. “But we shouldn’t be scared and we won’t fear any team but we have to respect all of them,” he added.
Enyimba are two-time winners of the competition – having won it in 2003 and 2004 – but have failed to make any serious impact ever since.
The group stage begins on the 17th of June, and the Nigerian champions will be hoping to win the competition for the third time.
