Flying Eagles coach Emmanuel Amuneke is confident they will get a ‘good result’ in Bujumbura when they face the Burundian U20 in an U20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier today.
The Nigerian U20’s are in the Burundian capital for the first leg of the fixture and speaking ahead of the game, Amuneke expressed confidence his players will come through.
“I strongly believe we will come away with a good result,” he told fcnaija.com.
“We have been working hard on how we hope to approach the game and the players have shown a good level of understanding of what we want and we are hopeful,” he said.
The former Nigeria international however admits they must work hard to get a result as the Burundians won’t be a push over.
“Being confident doesn’t mean we have to underrate them,” he said. “We have to respect them and understand that they also want to qualify for the main tournament, so we must give them respect,” he added.
The Flying Eagles are already in Bujumbura, and the game will kickoff at 2pm local time, which is 3pm Nigerian time.
A win for Nigeria will give them an advantage of progressing to the third qualifying round of the series with the second leg holding in Nigeria.
