Chairmanship candidate in the 2016 Anambra State FA elections Olisa Aniuno has once again petitioned the sports minister, Solomon Dalung over the ‘secret elections’ which produced billionaire businessman Ifeanyi Ubah as chairman in controversial circumstances.
In the petition titled ‘Acts of provocation by Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah and his Anambra State FA board co-impostors’, Aniuno has once again asked the sports minister to intervene by instructing the Nigeria Football Federation to cancel the process that produced Ubah and conduct fresh elections.
In the latest petition, Aniuno also accused the NFF president Amaju Pinnick of ‘conniving with an NFF constituted Anambra State Football Normalisation Committee led by one inglorious fellow called Mr. E.C Chukwuemeka, to manipulate elections into the Anambra State F.A starting from the Local Council elections where the right clubs who were those that affiliated with the NFF in 2016 and played in the 2016 NFF/State F.A Federation Cup competition, were not allowed to vote’.
Aniuno is reacting to the ‘Football made in Anambra’ initiative embarked upon by Ubah, who he insists is illegally parading himself as the chairman of the Anambra State FA.
The recent controversy began when the NFF normalization committee held elections into the board of the Anambra State FA on Tuesday May 3, 2016, as against the scheduled date of Wednesday, May 4, 2016 and in a recent interview with fcnaija.com, Aniuno described the process as a ‘complete sham’, thereby calling for a total cancellation.
The NFF, meanwhile, is yet to make any public pronouncement to the raging controversy, other than the congratulatory message sent to Ubah by Pinnick, after the ‘elections’ held, and Aniuno has also told fcnaija.com he will not hesitate in taking legal action against the Glass House if he has to.
