This week on Serie A round-up, Juventus are already champions of Italy for the 32nd time, so the focus is now on the Champions League places for next season and relegation battle at the foot of the table.
The fact that they have won the Scudetto notwithstanding, the Old Lady still went on to beat relegation-threatened Carpi 2-0. Lazio were able to get a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Inter Milan, while AC Milan had to come from behind to draw 3-3 with another relegation-threatened side, Frosinone at the San Siro.
Empoli and Bologna played out a 0-0 draw, while Sassuolo condemned Verona to an instant return to Serie B with a 1-0 win.. Palermo were 2-0 better than Sampdoria.
Udinese suffered an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at home to Torino, while Chievo and Fiorentina were involved in a barren stalemate.
Napoli and Roma still have one game in hand, but the capital club are only two points adrift of Napoli now following last week’s victory and are second and third respectively.
Inter still remain fourth despite the loss to Lazio, and Fiorentina failed to take advantage after they drew with Chievo.
At the bottom of the table, Verona will return to Serie B, while Frosinone and Carpi are still in the red zone. Palermo and Udinese may be out of the danger zone at the moment, but they both also run the risk of being dragged down a division.
