Both Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in Antoine Griezmann and could make their moves as early as the summer.
It is however believed the Atletico Madrid star is wary of moving to England knowing he could find the Premier League’s physicality too tough to handle.
That warning comes despite a stunning season in which the Frenchman has netted 30 goals for club and country – and a hefty price tag.
Chelsea are further along in their pursuit of Griezmann after a dismal title defence means new boss Antonio Conte will look to revamp a faltering squad.
United have deployed scouts to keep tabs on him.
Atletico do not want to see their prized asset leave and are likely to block moves in any case, with any fee thought to be pushing the British transfer record.
Griezmann has been the subject of intense Premier League interest over the past two years and at 25, he is now pondering a move away from Spain.
But he has been advised by some to remain at Atletico for at least another season.
Remaining at Vicente Calderon would certainly have its perks for Griezmann, who is guaranteed Champions League football in the Spanish capital.
Chelsea cannot offer that next year and United still have a battle on their hands to finish in the top four, even after Manchester City’s slip at Newcastle on Tuesday night.
