Gor Mahia’s march towards the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) summit was slowed on Sunday 10 April as the champions were held to a goalless draw by a gritty Ushuru FC side at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The match was the only one of the weekend that saw no goals scored in the eight matches played across the nation.
Earlier in the day, Ulinzi Stars’ unbeaten run went up in smoke as the side from nakuru lost 0 – 1 to Posta Rangers in the day’s early kickoff. Joseph Mbugi scored the lone goal that condemned the soldiers to the first loss.
While Ulinzi Stars lost their first match, out in Awassi, Thika United managed their first win of the season, beating hosts Chemelil Sugar 1 – 0 away from home courtesy of Ray Omondi’s solo strike. The win was also the first for new coach James Nandwa.
The other match on the day saw Muhoroni Youth get their second ever win over Bandari FC. Wycliffe Ochomo scored the only goal as Muho won 1 – 0.
