A total of 27 candidates have been cleared to vie in the AFC Leopards elections on Sunday 24 July, with three of the aspirants locked out.
30 expressed interest but after vetting them for integrity and tax compliance, three missed out while 5294 members have been cleared to vote.
Joshua Asige, who was interested in the Vice Chairman’s position as well as Athanus Obango and Stanslaus Omukhobero, who were contesting for membership in the Executive Committee were the candidates locked out.
A number of members and three branches have also been locked out.
Of the 65 branches vetted, 62 got the nod while three; Gitoka, Nakuru and Kangemi Social Hall branches failed to convince the elections board. In Kisumu branch, 30 members were found to have falsified documents and will be locked out.
There is still uncertainty regarding the polls with the board charged with conducting them stating that it needs Kshs 8 million to fund it but only have 2.5 million.
