Samson Siasia’s first task on his return to the Super Eagles will be to submit a list of players he wants to invite for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt to the NFF Technical Committee on Thursday.
Siasia was appointed on an interim capacity to the Super Eagles on Friday following Sunday Oliseh’s resignation and he is expected, alongside his assistants Emmanuel Amuneke and Salisu Yusuf to present the list of possible invitees.
Siasia had mentioned on Friday shortly after his appointment that he would consider the possibility of recalling Vincent Enyeama and Emmanuel Emenike, who both retired abruptly from international football last year, but it remains unclear whether both players would be on the list for the games against Egypt, especially with Enyeama asking for his decision to retire be respected.
Oliseh had been expected to present his list of preferred players for the games before the Technical Committee last Friday, but announced his resignation late on Thursday, which prompted the Glass House to re-appoint Siasia as chief coach, albeit on an interim basis this time.
The Super Eagles will host the Pharaohs on the 25th of March at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium before flying to Cairo for the return leg four days later.
The Egyptians currently top the group with six points from two games, while Nigeria are second with four points from the same number of games.
Nigeria won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations but missed out on the 2015 edition after they failed to qualify.
