In this week’s review of the Serie A, we start off from Turin, where Juventus maintained their lead with a 2-0 win over Inter Milan. Goals from Leonardo Bonucci and Alvaro Morata ensured the Old Lady remain of top of the table.
Relegation threatened Carpi played out a 1-1 draw with Atalanta while Chievo defeated Genoa 1-0. Sampdoria eased their relegation worries with a 2-0 win over Frosinone and Udinese did same with a 2-0 win over Verona. Palermo couldn’t do their chances of staying up any good as they were held to a goalless draw by Bolgna.
AC Milan continued their impressive form with a 1-0 win over Torino, while AS Roma won 3-1 at Empoli.
Lazio will play Sassuolo on Monday, same also as Napoli, who are away at Fiorentina.
As it stands after 27 rounds of games, Juventus remain top with 61 points, four more than second placed Napoli – albeit having played a game more. AS Roma are third courtesy of that win at Empoli, and now occupy the final Champions League spot.
Fiorentina, Inter and AC Milan occupy the fourth, fifth and sixth places with 52, 48 and 47 points respectively, with the Milan clubs having played a game more. Sassuolo, Lazio, Bologna and Chievo occupy the rest position in the top half of the table.
Meanwhile, at the foot of the table, Verona’s return to Serie B looks all but confirmed, as they have just 18 points from 27 matches. Carpi are next, with 21 points from the same number of games while Frosinone occupy the last relegation spot on 23 points.
The trio of Pelermo, Sampdoria and Genoa are safe for now, but there are only five points between them and the relegation zone. Udinese and Atalanta are not far off, as they both have 30 points. Torino and Empoli make up the middle of the table.
