Former Midtjylland star Jide Owolabi has tipped his former side to progress to the next round of the Europa League at the expense of Manchester United.
The English giants host the Danish minnows at Old Trafford in the second leg, round of 32 fixture and having lost 2-1 in the first leg, Owolabi believes United will succumb again on Thursday night.
“The first leg of the tie was very good for FC Midtjylland, for them to have beaten such a big club like Manchester United,” he told fcnaija.
“It is going to be a very good game but I trust my former teammates because they have been very good. They have been doing so well and they stand a very good chance and I believe they will upset Manchester United at Old Trafford,” he said.
The 20-year old Nigeria U23 international also spoke about the Nigerians at Midtjylland – Paul Onuachu and Rilwan Hassan – and says he believes they will also have an impact at Old Trafford.
“The Nigerians there have been doing well and I am very proud of them. I believe they will do even better at Old Trafford because Paul (Onuachu) scored in the first leg and he much be going into this game with so much confidence, so I strongly believe they will do well and stun Manchester United,” he added.
Owolabi started his professional career with Midtjylland, before moving to HB Koge, from where is currently on loan at Nyokobing, all in Denmark.
He was a part of the Nigerian U23 team that prepared for the 2015 U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal, but couldn’t make the tournament as he was recalled by his club due to the tournament not being on the FIFA calendar.
