Jose Mourinho has once again told friends – this time the Moratti family – he will become the next Manchester United manager.
The Portuguese had lunch with the former Inter Milan owners and when asked by journalists if he was making a return to San Siro, Bedy Moratti – sister of former Inter Milan owner, Massimo – let slip that Mourinho’s next destination will be the north-west of England.
“No, he’s happy now, he’s going to Manchester,” calciomercato.com quoted Moratti, who is also a director at Inter Milan.
“Of course he’s always fantastic and we missed him as a person here,” she replied when asked about the lunch meeting.
But Mourinho had stated earlier in the week that he isn’t sure where his future lies, when asked where his next job will be.
“My next club? I really don’t know, but one thing is certain: I love football and I’ll return to the touchline with the same passion and ambition as always,” he said to La Stampa.
“Right now I have respect for every coach and every club. I’m not looking for a club, it’s the clubs who are looking for me.”
Mourinho is currently in Milan after being invited by the Moratti family to watch Inter’s Serie A home game against Sampdoria.
He is currently without a job after being fired by Chelsea in December, but is expected to replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford in the summer.
The Dutchman is under increasing pressure following Thursday’s Europa League loss to Midtjylland, which was preceded by another loss to Sunderland in the Premier League.
