Edinson Cavani is ‘suffering’ at PSG and could leave for any of Manchester United, Real Madrid or Juventus, his father, Luis has said, as he also accused the French champions of ‘giving up’ on him.
Cavani was assured last summer that he would be the club’s main striker this season as they wanted Zlatan Ibrahimovic to play in a deeper role or out on the wings in order to get more of the ball.
But the assurance was said to have been broken, as he has had to start from the bench, or play out wide whenever he starts a game. He came off the bench to score the winner against Chelsea on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
And his father has told an Israeli TV station Sport 5: “Zlatan is not willing to play on the wings. So they gave up on Edinson. PSG themselves. Edinson is suffering at PSG. If they let him play as the No 9 he will be happy.
“I would like to see him play for Real Madrid, Manchester United or Juventus.”
The Uruguay international has scored 16 goals in 35 games this season, but he is growing increasingly frustrated with his time at the club.
The 29-year old has two years remaining on his contract at the end of the season and PSG would hope to recoup a large chunk of the £55m they spent to sign him from Napoli in 2013.
Laurent Blanc, the PSG manager admitted last month that ‘there is a problem with Cavani’s behaviour’.
