Mario Balotelli may have played his last game on loan for AC Milan as Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has suggested as much.
The controversial striker was introduced late in the win over Genoa over the weekend when they were leading 2-0, before Genoa pulled one back soon after to end the game 2-1 but Mihajlovic had seen enough from the striker to say he didn’t offer enough.
“We should’ve scored a third goal and not risked at the end.
“It is also my fault, as those who don’t sacrifice themselves for the team to the 94th minute will no longer set foot on the field.
“It wasn’t just Balotelli, there were another two or three as well as him, they know who I’m talking about,” he said.
The 25-year old striker is on loan from Liverpool but has struggled to make any meaningful impact at the San Siro and there have been suggestions Milan will not keep him beyond the summer.
It remains to be seen where the Italy international will end up, as Liverpool are also uninterested in having him return to Anfield given his poor form and constant on and off the field problems.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to go into the market in the summer for striking options to complement Daniel Sturridge, with Christian Benteke also looking likely to leave, having failed to feature prominently since the German replaced Brendan Rodgers.
Balotelli has scored just one goal in Serie A this season, and one other in Coppa Italia, making it two goals in 11 appearances in all competitions.
