Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes Leicester City can win the Premier League title this season ahead of both sides hugely surprising title showdown this weekend.
Manchester City host table-topping Leicester in Saturday’s lunch-time kick-off with both sides going into what could be a title decider with the Foxes having surprised all with their continued drive towards a first-ever Premier League title.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Pellegrini admitted it is possible for Leicester to go all the way and win the title.
“Of course Leicester can do it, and they are demonstrating they can do it this season,” he said.
“I don’t think we can keep talking about them being a surprise and I don’t think we can keep thinking Leicester won’t be involved in the title until the end. They will,” Pellegrini stated.
The outgoing Manchester City boss also said the emergence of Leicester City as a serious title contender is good news for the Premier League.
“I think it’s very good for the Premier League and probably next year another new team will be involved in the fight for the title.
“Here in England all the teams have a lot of money to spend and a lot of them have very good players.”
Pellegrini’s men are three points behind their Saturday opponents but will go joint top if they win but a loss however, may see them kiss their title aspirations goodbye.
