Arsene Wenger and Ronald Koeman were involved in a heated tunnel exchange after their goalless draw at the Emirates on Tuesday.
Wenger had confronted referee Lee Mason after the game and shouted: ‘it’s always the same with you’. Koeman witnessed the exchange and confronted Wenger before also telling the Arsenal manager: ‘it’s always the same with you’.
Koeman then went on to add: ‘You had 10 chances to score and didn’t take any of them, instead you take it out on them (the officials).’
The goalless draw with Southampton further punctured Arsenal’s title hopes, as they plunged to fourth place, following the wins recorded by Leicester City, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. The draw also meant Arsenal are winless in their last four games.
Southampton, meanwhile, will have their goalkeeper Frazier Foster to thank as his heroics ensured Arsenal failed to find the back of the net. It was the goalkeeper’s fourth straight clean sheet after returning from a long-term knee injury.
