Atletico Madrid have moved to end Radamel Falcao’s nightmare at Chelsea as they are set to land the Colombian for a second spell at the club.
The 29-year old left Atletico in 2013, and joined Monaco but has since played for Manchester United and Chelsea on loan, failing to recover his form at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.
The striker is believed to be desperate for a move away from Chelsea, following the arrival of Alexandre Pato, which has further pushed him down the pecking order.
He is leaning towards a return to Spain, preferably the Vincente Calderon, where he scored goals aplenty before his move to Monaco.
Meanwhile, Valencia are also reported to be interested in the striker’s services but Monaco are reluctant to cut short his loan at Chelsea, except if the interested clubs are willing to take him full time.
He has made just nine appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring just once, and has not played since October after suffering a thigh injury.
