Round 22 of the Serie A took place over the weekend and there were some very interesting results as the table begins to take final shape. Here, we take a look at how it was for the clubs.
The Milan derby went down over the weekend and there was only one winner as Milan thrashed Inter 3-0 at the San Siro. Goals from Alex, Carlos Bacca and M’baye Niang sealed the fate of Roberto Mancini’s men. Inter remain fourth despite the loss, but Milan climbed to sixth on the table.
Bologna were 3-2 winners over Sampdoria over the weekend also, and are now 10th on the log, while Sampdoria flirt with relegation as they are 17th. It was a dour affair at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, as Genoa were held to a goalless draw by Fiorentina. Napoli remained on top and continued their quest to win the Scudetto, as they thrashed Empoli 5-1 at the San Paolo. They stay top of the league with 50 points.
Torino were held at home by Verona to a goalless draw, with both sides occupying the 11th and 20th positions respectively. Udinese and Lazio were involved in a feisty goalless draw, as both sides finished the game with 10 men. Lazio remain eighth, while Udinese are 15th.
Juventus continued the chase of Napoli with a thrilling 4-0 away win at Chievo to remain within two points of Napoli. A brace from Alvaro Morata, and one apiece for Paul Pogba and Alex Sandro ensured Juve emerged winners in that one.
AS Roma reduced the deficit between them and fourth place to just three points after a convincing 3-1 win over Frosinone. Atalanta and Sassuolo played out a 1-1 draw, same as Carpi and Palermo.
Napoli, Juventus, Fiorentina and Inter Milan occupy the top four positions, while Carpi, Frosinone and Verona remain in relegation places.
