Kelechi Iheanacho continues to enjoy more encomiums following his hat-trick feat against Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup, as world football governing body, FIFA has joined the list of those that have commended the Nigerian youngster for his excellent performance on Wednesday.
The 19-year old put three past the hapless Aston Villa to secure an easy passage to the fifth round of the FA Cup for City, a performance which earned him the match ball and the man-of-the-match award.
He opened scoring with just less than four minutes played, after he reacted quickest to a goal-mouth melee, latching the ball into the Villa net. He got his second via the penalty spot, before sealing his man-of-the-match display with nice finish past Brad Guzan in goal for Aston Villa.
Reacting to the game and Iheanacho’s splendid performance, the world football governing body couldn’t hide their excitement.
“U-17 World Cup star in 2013 Hat-trick hero in the FA Cup today congrats, Kelechi Iheanacho,” the FIFA official twitter handle tweeted.
Iheanacho finished as the MVP of the 2013 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and has since moved to Manchester City, where he is making a name for himself.
