Alexandre Pato has completed his loan move to Chelsea from Brazilian side, Corinthians, the Premier League club have announced.
The struggling Premier League champions have a very poor season so far and have secured the services of the Brazilian to help bolster their attack-line, with a view to making the deal permanent at the end of the season for a reported fee of £7m.
The 26-year old arrived London on Wednesday, and completed a medical on Thursday before the deal was announced.
The former AC Milan striker will give Chelsea more options in attack as main striker, Diego Costa has suffered injuries, loss of form and suspensions this season, and will also provide width as he is also comfortable playing from either flank.
The acquisition means Chelsea now have four senior strikers in their ranks, even though any of Radamel Falcao or Loic Remy could leave before the end of the present transfer window. Both players were supposed to provide depth and support for Costa, but have also suffered injuries, or have failed to prosper when fit.
