Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has slammed the British media over what he describes as ‘awful and horrible’ reports regarding his future.
The Dutchman has been under intense media scrutiny following the club’s poor run so far this season, with several media reports even claiming he had offered to resign his post after last weekend’s home loss to Southampton.
But speaking ahead of their fourth round FA Cup tie against Derby County, Van Gaal insisted the reports were untrue.
“I don’t think I have mentioned that ever. You make your own stories. Then I have to answer. I am not doing that,” he said referring to reports he offered to resign after the Southampton loss.
“This is the third time that I have been sacked and I am still sitting here for you, but only because I am obliged to do it.
“Now I cannot lose any more, because I will be condemned for the fourth time, but maybe that is the truth because sometimes that happens.”
