We start off from Turkey with the round-up of Nigerian players abroad today. Gaziantepspor’s John Chibuike was on target as he scored a 43rd minute penalty in his club’s 2-1 win over Kenneth Omeruo’s Kasimpasa. Omeruo on the other hand was shown a 44th minute yellow card. Gbenga Arokoyo meanwhile, was not listed for Gaziantepspor.
Godfrey Oboabona was on the losing side last weekend as his Rizespor side were beaten 3-2 by Genclerbirligi. The Nigeria international played all 90 minutes and had a decent game but couldn’t help his side to a clean-sheet or a win. Jerry Mbakogu scored his first Serie A goal in Italy, as they beat Sampdoria 2-1, while Ogenyi Onazi failed to feature yet again in Lazio’s 2-2 draw at Bologna. Sadiq Umar was on Roma’s bench all through in their 1-1 draw against Verona.
Bartholomew Ogbeche fired blanks for Cambuur as they were beaten 2-0 in Holland, while Dominic Solanke played for 76 minutes before being replaced by Abiola Dauda.
In Israel’s Ligat ha’Al, Jude Nworuh scored his fourth goal in seven games in Bnei Yehuda’s 2-0 win over Maccabi Netanya.
Kelechi Iheanacho got a rare start for Manchester City in England, and contributed to their second goal as they thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0. Alex Iwobi was a second half entrant for Arsenal in the goalless draw at Stoke City, while Osaze Odemwingie could only watch from the bench.
West Ham United lost 2-1 at Newcastle United and it saw Victor Moses return from injury but his introduction couldn’t change the course of the game for his side.
In Spain’s Segunda Division, Kalu Uche was introduced after 64 minutes but failed to alter the course of the game as they lost 1-0 to Cordoba.
