Watford striker Odion Ighalo has been speaking following his Premier League Player of the month for December win.
The Nigeria international along with his manager Quique Sanchez Flores were voted Player and Manager of the month for December, and the striker says his hard work is paying off.
“I put a lot of work in and that has been paying off. I want to keep going, keep learning and working hard and help my teammates to win games,” he said.
The 26-year old also described the past month as a great one; a month which saw Watford winning three, drawing two and losing just one of their five games in a very busy period, and which also saw him score five times, including a brace against Liverpool.
“It was a great month, but not just me, for the team as well because we worked hard and we got as many points as we could.
“It was very good for us to be in mid-table and we want to keep that going, pushing ourselves game by game and see how far we can go.
“I knew the step up from the Championship to the Premier League was going to be difficult because the defenders are more experienced and big teams always defend with honour.”
