After initial close misses, in-form Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo has finally been named the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month for December.
Interestingly, Watford coach Quique Sanchez Flores has also won the Premier League manager of the month award in reward for the Hornets’ remarkable form in December
Flores’ side took 10 points from five fixtures in the final month of 2015, including victories over Norwich, Sunderland and Liverpool.
Ighalo, who scored an impressive 29 goals in 2015, including 13 in the Premier League in his debut top-flight season, was the standout player for the promoted side, netting five times, including a brace in the 3-0 win over Liverpool at Vicarage Road.
A draw at Chelsea followed four wins in a row including the victory at Aston Villa at the end of November, before Watford finished the year with a last-ditch loss at home to Spurs.
Ighalo beat off competition off competition from the likes of Mesut Ozil to win the prestigious award.
Hopefully, the PL Awards will fire up Flores, Ighalo and the rest of the Watford gang when they travel to face relegation-threatened Swansea on Monday evening in their next league outing.
