Sunday Oliseh says his team has improved following the 1-0 win over Cote d’Ivoire in a tune-up game in Pretoria, South Africa on Monday, ahead of the CHAN tournament.
The Nigeria coach had previously expressed concern over the readiness of his team ahead of the competition, but after the win over the Elephants, he believes they have now shown levels of improvement.
“I think we have improved from the way we were before now,” he said. “The players’ positioning and awareness seems better now so I believe we are making progress.”
The former Nigeria captain however insisted that they are still not as fully ready as he would like.
“I say we have improved, but I don’t think we have reached the level I want yet. We will continue to work with them to see how they progress but I am hopeful,” he added.
The team will leave for Rwanda on Friday, ahead of their first game of the competition three days later.
