Yaya Toure says he believes Nigerian youngster and Manchester City teammate Kelechi Iheanacho can become one of the best players in the world.
The 32-year old Ivorian, himself one of the best players in the world in his position, says he has gotten close to Iheanacho and is serving as a mentor.
“Yes, I am very close to Kelechi and he sees me as his mentor,” he said to SportingLife.
“I see him closely and I trust him and I have been trying to push him up. I know what I have done to encourage him to continue to believe in his talent.
“I see him as one of my younger brothers coming through one day. I hope that Kelechi can be one of the top players on the field in the future,” Yaya added further.
Iheanacho, 19, has been impressive for City so far, scoring five goals, despite mostly coming off the bench.
His latest strike came in the 3-0 win over Norwich City in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
