Brown Ideye was on target for his Greek club, Olympiakos as they strolled to a 3-1 win over Levadiakos in the Greek Super League. It was his seventh goal of the campaign. In England, Osaze Odemwingie returned from injury but could only watch from the bench as Stoke City beat Doncaster Rovers 2-1 in the FA Cup. It was a similar fate for John Obi Mikel, as he watched all through from the bench in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe also in the FA Cup.
Still in England, Alex Iwobi started for Arsenal, and was hugely impressive as they came from a goal down to beat Sunderland 3-1 in the FA Cup third round. Sammy Ameobi also started for Cardiff City, but he was on the losing side as they lost 0-1 at home to Shrewsbury Town.
Kelechi Iheanacho was on target again for Manchester City as they beat Norwich City 3-0 also in the FA Cup. It was his fifth goal of the season. In Turkey, Kenneth Omeruo was on from start to finish as Kasimpasa were held at home to a 1-1 draw by Trabzonspor. Godfrey Oboabona also saw all 90 minutes of action in Rizespor’s 2-1 win over Basaksehir. John Chibuike played for 87 minutes for Gazientepspor but Gbenga Arokoyo was not listed in the goalless draw at Antalyaspor.
Former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama was in goal for Lille as they drew 1-1 with Nice, but Elderson Echiejile was not listed in Monaco’s 2-2 draw with Ajaccio.
Ogenyi Onazi spent 90 minutes on the bench as Lazio won 3-1 at Fiorentina, meanwhile, Sadiq Umar spear-headed AS Roma’s attack in the 1-1 draw against AC Milan.
