Premier League leaders Arsenal have now set their sights on Nigeria and Watford striker, Odion Ighalo, 366football.com has learnt.
Arsene Wenger has given the go-ahead to the Arsenal scouts to identify strikers that could bolster the team’s attack, but it is however understood that the club will only make a move for Ighalo in the summer, and not this January.
The Gunners have already been linked with several strikers, with Gabon and Dortmund striker and recently named African footballer of the year, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang prominent amongst the listed names.
It is however believed Ighalo will fit the bill if they fail to land Aubameyang, given his 30 goals last year, and his 14 Premier League goals this season.
It is also believed the Gunners also have former Manchester United striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez in their sights, but concede Ighalo will be the most affordable option and will be readily available.
Ighalo, meanwhile, in a recent interview, stated his love for Manchester United and his desire to play for the Red Devils, even though the 26-year old is unlikely to turn down a move to the Emirates.
