SuperSport United trio Nelson Maluleke, Safwan Hendriks and Jake Aresti have been invited for trials by Dutch club PEC Zwolle.
The teenagers, all part of the Matsatsantsa Academy, will head to Europe for two weeks from November 30 to December 12.
Maluleke is the South Africa Under-17 captain and has featured for the Tshwane outfit in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge this season.
“I believe in never giving up – to keep playing and trying, to train harder and longer,” he said. “I will give it my all at the trials.”
Hendricks, meanwhile, plays on the right-wing and was part of the U17 team which reached the finals of the 2015 Engen Cup, where SuperSport finished as runners-up to Ajax Cape Town. He is aged just 15.
Team-mate Aresti is an attacking midfielder, who was also part of that Engen Cup squad.
“I still cannot believe that I will be going overseas on a two week trial,” he stated. “I’m living my dream and I hope that I can really shine when I play in Holland.”
Academy manager, Giancarlo Ballossini, explained that the opportunity for these players to travel overseas could be the start of a bright future.
“This is pivotal in the next stage of development,” he added. “Phumelela help us scout and develop these players now it’s up to us to expose them onto the world’s leading stages.
“Overseas travel serves both an educational purpose as well as the players can assess for themselves the level of opposition and where they need to be and what deficiencies to work on.
“This will be the first of many overseas tours for Academy players and acts as a motivation for other academy players as well.”
