Ali Abondo scored the opner on the 12th minute and Meddie Kagere doubled the lead on the 33rd minute before Jesse Were gave Tusker hopes with a 53rd minute goal but Eugene Asike scored the equalizer in the dying moments to end the tie even
Jesse Were failed to finish off Noah Wafula’s dropped ball in the box and immediately after Ali Abondo broke the deadlock with a curling shot from outside the box that deflected off Eugene Asike into the net with Martin Musalia already off his line.
On the 33rd minute, Gor doubled the lead through Kagere, who converted a penalty after Abondo had been brought down by Lloyd Wahome.
Joackins Atudo almost cost his side at the stroke of halftime with a poor clearance but Kagere was stopped by Asike while racing goalwards before Kagera called for the break.
In the second half, Tusker were the first to test Onyango in the 50th minute with a free kick from the edge of the box taken by Atudo but blocked by Jerim following Abondo’s foul on Humphrey Mieno. Three minutes later, Jesse grabbed his goal after picking a loose ball outside the box before calmly picking his spot.
Gor were defending a lot in the second half and made little scoring chances, one, in the 70th minute when Abondo’s free kick was blocked by a Tusker FC wall and later Aucho’s shot from substitute Collins Okoth’s pass hit the crossbar.
Asike punished Gor’s back line with an equalizer emanating from Kevin Kimani’s set piece.
The return leg will be played on Wednesday 4 November.
